Bari Tessler holds an M.A. in Somatic Psychology from Naropa University. Bari spent her 20’s in the psychology field in Boulder, CO. She spent her time working at Hospice, both leading bereavement groups and caring for elderly, working as a counselor in a variety of mental health facilities, leading Authentic Movement groups for young women and researching the field of couples and relationships. These years were wonderful training for Bari. She had been exploring the areas of relationship, sexuality, death, family, God, spirituality, gender, food, body, etc. during these years and the biggest missing piece in all of this was clear guidance regarding her relationship to money and all areas of one’s finances. In all her years of exceptional education, she had yet to learn how to manage her personal finances, counsel her clients on issues related to money, handle the business aspects of a counseling practice, or understand her own money story. Bari was determined to not let her relationship, or lack there of, to money be a self-imposed prison and so she took a break from the mental health field and followed her questions which led her to taking a job in the accounting department for an organic bakery. Much to her surprise this little next step, which appeared at first to be quite a detour, led to her second career as a bookkeeper with a strong local clientele in Northern California. From there, Bari spent her 30's exploring money on a practical, psychological and spiritual level. Her journey has been a natural unfolding that led her to conceive and create the Conscious Bookkeeping Method in 2001 with the support and guidance of her mentor, Tamara Slayton. This method originated as a unique integration of Financial Therapy, Values-Based Bookkeeping and Life Visioning. Bari was the sole facilitator for the first few years, until many wonderful coaches and bookkeepers arrived at her door asking to join the Conscious Bookkeeping team. And from there the team of Financial Therapists, Bookkeeping Trainers and Financial Coaches was created. Joetta Johnson, Financial Coach extraordinaire, arrived in 2005 and immediately partnered with Bari to bring the Conscious Bookkeeping organization to the next level of its incarnation She teaches the Conscious Bookkeeping method with the intention that it will heal some of the tensions between the internal and external challenges of our postmodern life and that it will assist and guide the individual, couple, family and entrepreneur into a more intimate, clear and successful relationship with themselves, with each other and with their contribution to the world. Bari has been growing Conscious Bookkeeping, since 2001, with the support and collaboration of many wonderful colleagues, students, mentors, friends & family. She sees growing a business as an opportunity for: deep psychological and spiritual growth, lots of rich connections with people, tremendous amounts of creativity and an incredible opportunity to have a positive impact on people and the planet. She gave birth to her son, Noah, on August 9th, 2008 and took a maternity leave for 4 months. She is very excited to be entering back into the fabulous Conscious Bookkeeping community and continuing to serve. And, as she is about to enter into her 40's, (January 3rd, 2009) she is very excited to see what this decade will bring. Bari resides in Boulder, CO, with her wonderful husband, Forest and her baby son, Noah and her two kitties, Finn & Lily. And lately, she can be found hiking in the hills and starting to dance again… To contact Bari, click here...
