This week, I found the video above and was so happy to see the concept of investing spelled out in such a no-nonsense way.
This past year, we have seen a lot of crazy shifts in the market and in the language the media uses to talk about money. One of the things I always try to do with clients is to help them get down to the core of the issue and take the emotion out of the concept they are working with.
Here we have investing spelled out just as a concept, not as news anchors feeding fear about what the market is doing.
Beyond simply watching the video, when you get into a money rat's nest and feel a lot of overwhelm, fear, or other emotions coming up, try to boil the concept down to a simple image or metaphor, like in this video. How would I explain this situation to a child, or like it was a basic math problem?
Then, once you have that simple formula, ask yourself how you would then solve the problem.
We often have the answers to our challenges inside us already, but are too trappen in our own heads to see them. Try looking at your money fears from a little more distance this week, and please share how this goes in the comments below.
Enjoy!
